Ball State has been flirting with .500 all year with mixed results. The Cardinals entered the month on a 10-10 clip but they’ve lost four of five since then. Those losses came versus Ohio, Central Michigan, Buffalo and Northern Illinois.
Back on Tuesday versus Northern Illinois, the Cardinals hit halftime tied at 27 apiece. Ball State fell behind on a 31-37 run from there in a 64-58 loss. Payton Sparks led the team on his 16 points with eight rebounds in 31 minutes of work.
Over on the Bowling Green side, their year began at a decent 7-4 but they’ve only been able to win consecutive games once since then. The Falcons are currently riding a three-game losing streak to Kent State, Miami OH and Buffalo.
On Tuesday versus Buffalo, the Falcons had a hard time keeping up. Bowling Green was outscored 38-51 in the first and 47-61 in the second during a 112-85 loss. Samari Curtis topped the team on his 19 points and three boards.
The Falcons are 1-5 ATS in their last six overall and 10-28-2 ATS in their last 40 at home. The over is 20-7 in Bowling Green’s last 27 overall.
Meanwhile, the Cardinals are 5-12 ATS in their last 17 road games and 4-0 ATS in their last four Saturday games. Ball State is 5-0 ATS in the last five after an ATS loss.
PICK: I’m going to try Bowling Green in this one, but probably not touching it. The Falcons realistically weren’t going to hang with a hot-shooting Buffalo team in their last outing, but the good news is that they’ve still been putting up decent points totals in this 1-5 stretch.
Bowling Green has hit 68 or more points in eight straight games, but they’re still giving up a ton of points. Ball State should be able to get a good offensive effort here and we’re likely to see something similar to January 1’s 81-80 Cardinals victory the last time these teams met up. Should be fun.
