The Navy Midshipmen and the Bucknell Bison meet in college basketball action from Sojka Pavilion on Wednesday night.
The Navy Midshipmen will look to rebound from back-to-back home losses after a 74-73 OT loss last time out. John Carter Jr. leads the Middies in scoring with 13.7 PPG along with 4.4 RPG while Greg Summers has 10.5 PPG with team-highs of 5.3 RPG and 2.3 APG to lead the Midshipmen on the glass and in assists this season. Tyler Nelson has 8.3 PPG with 4.6 RPG as well this season. As a team, Navy is averaging 67 PPG on 45.3% shooting from the field, 33.8% from three and 66.8% from the foul line while allowing 61.2 PPG on 41.7% shooting from the field and 30.9% from three this season.
The Bucknell Bison will look to build on their 68-65 win over Holy Cross last time out. Andrew Funk leads the Bison in scoring with 17.1 PPG with 3.6 RPG as well while Xander Rice has 12 PPG with a team-high 3.8 APG and Andre Screen has 10.4 PPG with 6.8 RPG as well to lead Bucknell on the glass and to make up the group of double-digit scorers for Bucknell up to this point in the year. As a team, Bucknell is averaging 69.2 PPG on 43.8% shooting from the field, 34.8% from three and 78.5% from the foul line while allowing 78.8 PPG on 45.7% shooting from the field, 35.4% from three this season.
Navy is 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games following a loss and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 road games against a team with a losing home record while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 games against a team with a losing record. Bucknell is 0-4 ATS in their last 4 Wednesday games and 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games following an ATS win while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 home games against a team with a winning road record.
I get why you could make a case for a home dog like Bucknell here as the Bison have home court which can be an equalizer. However, Navy has been so good ATS on the road this season and haven’t always been a big underdog, they’re covering numbers when they’re laying points as well. I’ll side with Navy laying the points here given the Middies’ track record.
