Kent State Golden Flashes

The Golden Flashes got off to a pretty strong start this year, going 13-3 over their first 16 outings. Kent State is 6-2 since then, beating Ohio, Eastern Michigan, Ball State, Buffalo, Central Michigan and Bowling Green along the way. 

In the Bowling Green matchup on Tuesday, the Flashes took a 34-25 edge into the second half. Kent State hit a 53-39 run from there and cruised to the 87-64 win. Tops in scoring was Malique Jacobs with 17 points and seven assists. 

Buffalo Bulls 

Over on the Buffalo side, they kicked off the year on a .500 run at 8-8 through 16 games. The Bulls are an even 4-4 since then with wins over Bowling Green, Ball State, Western Michigan and Eastern Michigan during that stretch. 

In the Eastern Michigan game on Tuesday, the Bulls trailed 48-44 in the locker room. Buffalo stormed back on a 58-49 second-half run and won it 102-97. Both LaQuill Hardnett and Isaiah Adams scored 21 points apiece to lead the way. 

ANDREW’S FREE PICK 

I’ll probably take a stab on Buffalo here. The Bulls have been a mixed bag lately (and all year, in fact) but they’re sitting on consecutive wins right now with a nice 187 combined points scored between them. These teams last met up back on January 27 at Kent State Mac Center in a 74-68 win for the Flashes. Buffalo had a slow start in that one, falling behind 42-31 in the first half. I like the Bulls to regroup and play well at home here on the way to a cover. Should be a fun matchup.
