Butler vs UConn 12/17/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The UConn Huskies and the Butler Bulldogs meet Saturday in college basketball action from Hinkle Fieldhouse. UConn is 11-0 so far this year. The Huskies took out LIU in their last matchup. UConn hasn’t had too many issues this year. The wins have come versus Stonehill, Boston U, Buffalo, UNC Wilmington, Delaware State, Oregon, Alabama, Iowa State, Oklahoma State, Florida and LIU. 

In the LIU matchup back on Saturday, the Huskies drilled the Sharks 62-27 in the first half. UConn kept it up with 52 more points in the second for a 114-61 win. Jordan Hawkins scored 22 points, and Donovan Clingan doubled on 21 points and 11 rebounds. 

Over on the Butler side, they went 4-2 over their first six games with losses to Penn State and Tennessee. The Bulldogs would then lose to NC State before beating Kansas State, Tennessee Tech, Yale and California.

Matched up against Cal last Saturday, the Bulldogs were up 41-26 going into the second half. Butler scored another 41 points from there and won 82-58. Both Jayden Taylor and Simas Lukosius scored 16 points apiece to lead the way. 

PICK: I might take a stab on Butler in this one. Probably not touching it, though. The Bulldogs have looked good and scored quite well over this four-game win streak; they’ve hit 71 or more points in every game and won each outing by at least 10 points. Butler has posted some nice points totals overall this year but they tend to get bogged down against the higher-tier teams. UConn certainly falls into that category; the Huskies have been a powerhouse thus far. Butler might be able to eke into a cover during garbage time, but I’m staying away from this one.
