The Missouri State Bears and the BYU Cougars meet in college basketball action from the Marriott Center on Wednesday night.
The Missouri State Bears will be looking to build on their 82-47 win over subdivision Missouri S&T last time out; Chance Moore led the Bears with 18 points on 6 of 10 shooting with 3 threes and 6 rebounds while Alston Mason added 13 points on 5 of 6 shooting with 3 threes. Jonathan Mogbo added 11 points on a perfect 5 of 5 shooting with a team-high 7 rebounds to cap off the scoring in double figures for the Bears in the win. Donovan Clay also had a team-high 7 rebounds and Matthew Lee dished out a team-high 4 assists in the win.
The BYU Cougars will try to rebound from an 82-75 loss to San Diego State in their last game. Spencer Johnson led the Cougars with 17 points on 7 of 11 shooting with 3 threes and a team-high 7 rebounds while Rudi Williams added 15 points on 6 of 12 shooting with 3 assists and 3 steals. Fousseyni Traore had 14 points on 5 of 6 shooting and Gideon George added 11 points with 6 rebounds and a pair of threes to cap off the scoring in double figures for BYU in the losing effort.
Missouri State is 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall and 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games following a win while the over is 7-1 in their last 8 games overall. BYU is 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games following an ATS win and 15-7 ATS in their last 22 games following a loss while the under is 7-3 in their last 10 home games.
I get why the points are worth a look, as BYU’s lineup on paper really isn’t scaring anyone. However, the Cougars looked pretty good albeit in a loss against San Diego State and I think this BYU team can snag some wins in the non-conference portion of their schedule, including this one against a Missouri State team that is now without their two best players from last year in Gaige Prim and Isiaih Mosley. I just think BYU chips away and pulls away, winning by double digits in the second half so I’ll lay the points with BYU here.
