BYU vs South Dakota 12/3/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The South Dakota Coyotes and the BYU Cougars meet Saturday in college basketball action from Vivint Smart Home Arena. South Dakota is 4-4 overall this year following a win over Mount Marty in their last game. As for BYU, they’re currently 5-3 this season. The Cougars beat Westminster UT in their most recent outing. South Dakota was 2-2 after four games this year, beating Lipscomb and Dakota State with losses otherwise to Wisconsin and Mississippi State. The Coyotes would then beat LIU before losses to Sam Houston and Coastal Carolina. 

In the Monday game versus Mount Marty, South Dakota didn’t have much trouble. The Coyotes posted 52 points in the first half and 45 more from there in a 97-58 win. Tasos Kamateros led the team on 18 points and seven rebounds. 

Over on the BYU side, they began the year at 3-1 with victories over Idaho State, Missouri State and Nicholls State (and a loss to San Diego State). The Cougars would lose to USC and Butler before picking up another win over Dayton. 

BYU managed another victory in Tuesday’s matchup versus Westminster UT. The Cougars posted a whopping 63 points in the first half and cruised to the 100-70 blowout win. Both Gideon George and Jaxson Robinson scored 15 points apiece. 

PICK: I’m staying with BYU. The Cougars have had mixed results depending on the matchup so far this year, but should do fairly well here. BYU is scoring well over their last five outings, with 70 or more points in each game. As for South Dakota, they’ve had their share of offensive duds this year. The Coyotes have been below 60 points in four of their eight games so far—but to be fair they’ve had a few comparatively tough matchups mixed in there. Still, BYU should be in control here.
