Cal Baptist vs Southeast Missouri State 12/21/21 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Southeast Missouri State Redhawks and the California Baptist Lancers meet Tuesday in college basketball action from CBU Events Center. Southeast Missouri State is 5-7 so far this year. The Redhawks lost to Pepperdine in their last appearance. As for Cal Baptist, they’re 8-3 on the season and coming off a loss to Arizona. Southeast Missouri State managed a 4-4 run over their first eight games this year, Beating Missouri State, Missouri Baptist, Incarnate Word and Webster along the way. Since beating Evansville the Redhawks have lost to Fort Wayne, Southern IL and Pepperdine. 

In the Saturday matchup versus Pepperdine, the Redhawks were down by five at the break and ultimately couldn’t keep the pace in an 83-77 loss. Phillip Russell topped the team on 25 points, and Nygal Russell doubled on 15 points and 10 boards. 

Over on the Cal Baptist side, they got off to a nice 5-0 start this year before a November 24 loss to Texas. The Lancers then beat SDCC, Cal Poly and North Dakota before two more losses to UC Riverside and Arizona. 

On Saturday versus Arizona, Cal Baptist scored 33 points in the first half and just 27 more from there in an 84-60 blowout loss. Leading scorers Ty Rowell and Tre Armstrong put up 11 points and three rebounds each during the defeat. 

Cal Baptist is 4-0 ATS in their last four Tuesday games and the under is 6-1 in their last seven overall. The Lancers are 0-6 ATS in the last six after an ATS win. 

Meanwhile, SEMO is 2-7 ATS in their last nine overall and 5-1 ATS in their last six Tuesday games. The over is 6-2 in the Redhawks’ last eight after a straight-up loss. 

PICK: I’m going to take a stab on SEMO here. The Redhawks have been pretty spotty on the scoreboard this year depending on their opponents, but against comparable teams SEMO has been doing okay. The Redhawks have hit 75 or more points in three of their last five outings, but they’re just 2-3 in that time. 

As for Cal Baptist, if they can get off to a good offensive start here I think they can hang around for most of the game. Southeast Missouri State seems a better cover option, but a lot of things could happen in this one and I’m probably staying away.
