CSU Northridge began the year at 4-6 over the first 10 games with wins over Dixie State, St. Katherine, San Diego and Portland State. After losses to Bethesda and UC San Diego the Matadors got a win over Cal Poly.
In last weekend’s matchup versus Cal Poly, the Matadors were down by one at the half but rallied for an eventual 68-55 win. Top scorer Onyi Eyisi posted 20 points and eight boards, while Elijah Hardy chipped in 15 points and seven rebounds.
Over on the CSU Fullerton side, they went 4-5 in their first nine games this year with wins over George Washington, San Diego, Northern AZ and Pacific. Since then it’s been three wins over Life Pacific, Redlands and CSU Bakersfield.
Matched up against CSU Bakersfield back on December 30, the Titans posted a 41-36 edge in the second half on the way to a 73-67 win. EJ Anosike led the team on 21 points and seven rebounds; Vincent Lee added 20 points and five boards.
The Titans are 4-1 ATS in the last five overall and 2-6 ATS in their last eight Thursday games. The under is 6-2 in CSUF’s last eight overall.
Meanwhile, CSUN is 4-1 ATS in their last five Thursday games and 2-0-2 ATS in their last four overall. The under is 5-1 in the Matadors’ last six road games.
PICK: I’m going with the Titans here, but staying away due to the relatively thick line. It’s been a while since we’ve seen Cal State Fullerton on the court so it’s tough to know what to expect. That said, the Titans have scored well over their last three games, with 73 or more points in each. The scoring for CSUF has been spotty this year but they should be able to match up with the Matadors. A lot of different things could happen in this one though, so I’m not going near it.
