Cal State Northridge vs Dixie State College Basketball Picks, Best Bets and Odds 11/20/2021

The Dixie State Trailblazers and the Cal State Northridge Matadors meet Saturday in college basketball action from the Matadome. Dixie State is coming off a 20-point blowout loss to Texas State. Dixie State had the worst possible matchup in their opener this year, and ended up falling to Gonzaga 97-63. The Trailblazers bounced back well in game two against Southern Utah however, surging to an 83-76 result for their first victory of the year. 

In Friday’s matchup versus Texas State, the Trailblazers were outscored 47-29 in the first half on the way to a rough 85-65 blowout loss. Cameron Gooden was the team’s top scorer with 18 points, four rebounds and four assists. 

Over on the Cal State Northridge side, they’ve had some very tough games this year as well. The Matadors started out with an 89-49 loss against USC in their opener. Game two was a little better against Notre Dame, but still turned into a 68-52 defeat. 

In Friday’s game against Eastern Washington, the Matadors had a 31-26 halftime lead but had to go to overtime after a second-half surge from the opposition. CSUN eventually lost 67-64. Top scorer Linton Acliese put up 20 points with five rebounds and two assists. 

PICK: I’m going to try Cal State Northridge here. Sure, the Matadors have lost all three games so far, but they’ve played some pretty solid teams over the first trio. Neither team shot all that well in Friday’s matchup; the Matadors posted 34.3 percent from the field and 23.8 percent on 3-point shots. That said, CSUN snagged 45 rebounds and had a decent 10 turnovers. I think the Matadors have a pretty good shot at a cover in this one, and it’ll be a big relief once that first victory comes.
