The Hampton Pirates and the Campbell Camels meet in college basketball action from the John W. Pope Jr. Convocation Center on Wednesday night.

The Hampton Pirates will look to bounce back from a 73-49 loss to Longwood last time out. Najee Garvin leads the Pirates in scoring and rebounding with 15.6 PPG and 6.1 RPG while Russell Dean has 12.3 PPG with 3.5 RPG and a team-high 3.1 APG to lead the Pirates in assists and make up the other half of the duo of double-digit scorers for Hampton so far this season. As a team, Hampton is averaging 60.8 PPG on 37.6% shooting from the field, 26.4% from three and 68.5% from the foul line while allowing 65.6 PPG on 40.5% shooting from the field and 26.7% from three this season.

The Campbell Camels will look to build on their third win in their last four games after a 73-72 road win over North Carolina A&T last time out. Marcus Watson leads the Aggies in scoring and rebounding with 12.4 PPG and 5.8 RPG while Demetric Horton has 12.2 PPG with 5 RPG as the only other double-digit scorer for North Carolina up to this point in the season. David Beatty has 9.2 PPG and Kameron Langley has a team-high 5.1 APG to lead the Aggies in the assist department. As a team, North Carolina A&T is averaging 67.3 PPG on 47.7% shooting from the field, 32.8% from three and 70.5% from the foul line while allowing 61.4 PPG on 42.6% shooting from the field and 34.3% from three this season.

Hampton is 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games following a loss and 1-9 ATS in their last 10 games against a team with a winning record while the under is 9-1 in their last 10 road games. Campbell is 1-5 ATS in their last 6 home games and 0-7 ATS in their last 7 Wednesday games while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 games following a win.

I get the case to be made for Campbell at home, but these are two solid defensive teams with two lower-scoring offensive units and I just think this feels like too many points to be laying against a Hampton team that has been competitive on the road this season. I’ll take my chances with Hampton and the points.
