Canisius vs Cleveland State 11/16/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Cleveland State Vikings and the Canisius Golden Griffins meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Koessler Athletic Center. Cleveland State is 0-3 thus far following a loss to Ohio in their last game. As for Canisius, they’re 1-1 on the season and coming off a win over St. Bonaventure. Cleveland State faced off against Notre Dame OH in their first game. The Vikings were outscored 40-37 in the second half and lost 72-68. In game two, Cleveland State didn’t have any luck against Cincinnati with a 69-58 defeat. 

Back on Saturday in their third game of the year, Cleveland State took on Ohio. The Vikings scored 30 points in the first half and 40 more from there in an 81-70 loss. Yahel Hill was the top team scorer with 20 points, and Tae Williams added 12 points.

Over on the Canisius side, they took on Youngstown State in their first game of the year. The Griffins were down 58-35 by halftime and ultimately lost 92-81. Malek Green was the top team scorer, doubling up on 21 points and 12 rebounds. 

Game two versus St. Bonaventure went much better for the Griffins. Canisius needed overtime after getting outscored 33-32 in the second half but emerged victorious 84-80. Daryl Banks led the team with 22 points, and Kyrell Luc managed 13 points with nine assists. 

PICK: I’m probably staying with Canisius but not going near it. There’s not a lot to like about this matchup, as neither team has played all that well so far. In any case, Canisius bagged 46.4 percent from the field and 50 percent (11-of-22) from 3-point range in their win over St. Bonaventure. Those totals helped offset the sketchy foul shooting (65.6 percent) and the rebounding deficit (39-32). If Canisius shoots reasonably well here against Cleveland State the Griffins should be able to cover.
