Little Rock started out the year on a 4-2 clip, taking out Southern Illinois, Champion Christian, Arkansas Baptist and NIU in that time. After losses to Tulsa, Colorado State, Arkansas and Missouri State, the Trojans got a win over Philander Smith.
In the Philander Smith matchup, the Trojans turned a slim 32-30 halftime edge into a 60-51 win. Leading the scoring for Little Rock was Isaiah Palermo with 18 points, nine rebounds, five assists and a steal.
Over on the Central Arkansas side, they got a win over Oral Roberts in their fourth game this year. Otherwise it’s been losses to Saint Louis, Butler, Baylor, New Orleans, VMI, Presbyterian, Arkansas and Arkansas State.
On December 4 versus Arkansas State, the Bears gave up 51 points in the first half and 44 more from there in a 95-82 loss. Desi Sills posted 19 points, and Norchad Omier doubled up with 19 points and 13 rebounds.
The Bears are 7-17 ATS in their last 24 overall and 0-5 ATS in their last five Tuesday games. The over is 5-1 in Central AR’s last six Tuesday games.
Meanwhile, the Trojans are 5-15-1 ATS in their last 21 road games and 0-4 ATS in their last four after a straight-up win. Little Rock is 9-24-1 ATS in their last 34 overall.
PICK: I suppose I’m taking Little Rock here, but staying away. There’s not much to like in this matchup. The Trojans shot a tepid 35.6 percent in their latest win over Philander Smith, but did pick up 42 rebounds along the way. They’ll take the win after a string of bad outcomes, though. As for Central Arkansas, it’s been tough to find success in any measure this year. The Bears have had a few good scoring outings here and there however, so I expect them to make this matchup interesting.
