Lipscomb hit a 5-2 run out of the gate this year with losses to Charleston and Tennessee Tech. Next came a five-game losing streak before a win over Tennessee Wesleyan. The Bisons then lost to LSU before beating Alabama A&M and North Alabama.
In the North Alabama matchup on Tuesday, the Bisons jumped out to a 41-31 halftime lead and maintained it from there in an 84-74 win. Leading scorer Ahsan Asadullah posted 30 points’ nd Will Pruitt hauled in 16 rebounds with eight points of his own.
Over on the Central Arkansas side, they went just 1-9 over their first 10 games this year, taking a lone win over Oral Roberts. Since then it’s been a 3-1 run with wins over Hendrix, Champion Christian and Eastern Kentucky.
Matched up against Eastern Kentucky on Tuesday, the Bears held a 41-33 lead at the break. Central Arkansas was able to hold on for the 79-72 win from there. Darious Hall led the team on a double-double with 21 points and 16 boards.
The Bears are 0-8 ATS in their last eight after an ATS win and 4-1 ATS in their last five Sunday games. The over is 5-1 in Central Arkansas’ last six overall.
Meanwhile, the Bisons are 1-4 ATS in their last five road games and 2-5 ATS in their last seven after an ATS win. Lipscomb is 1-4 ATS in their last five overall.
PICK: I’m going to stick with the Bisons. Lipscomb hasn’t exactly been the most consistent scoring team this year, but they’re doing okay offensively in comparable matchups. Lipscomb has hit 84 or more points in two of their last four games, going 3-1 in that time. As for Central Arkansas, they’re coming off a solid win over Eastern Kentucky and have hit 70 or more points in five of their last six outings. This one looks to me like a higher-scoring game, and I think Lipscomb can ride out the cover.
