The Stetson Hatters and the Central Arkansas Bears meet in college basketball action from the Farris Center
The Stetson Hatters will look to bounce back after ending the year on a five-game losing streak after a 74-69 OT loss to North Florida. Rob Perry leads Stetson in scoring with 15.9 PPG in 14 games while Chase Johnston has 15.3 PPG and Christiaan Jones has 12.7 PPG to cap off the trio of double-digit scorers for Stetson so far this season. Jones also boasts a team-high 6.5 RPG and Stephan Swenson has a team-high 5.1 APG as well this season. As a team, Stetson is averaging 69.6 PPG on 42.8% shooting from the field, 34.6% from three and 69.1% from the foul line while allowing 71.4 PPG on 45.2% shooting from the field and 35.2% from three this season.
The Central Arkansas Bears will look to build some steam after alternating wins and losses in each of their last nine games down the stretch after an 81-66 loss to Lipscomb last time out. Camren Hunter leads the Bears in scoring and assists with 14.5 PPG along with 4.9 RPG and 3.2 APG while Darious Hall has 12.8 PPG with a team-high 6.8 RPG to lead the Bears on the glass. Eddy Kayouloud has 11.4 PPG with 4.6 RPG and Jared Chatham has 11 PPG with 6.2 RPG to cap off the scoring in double figures for Central Arkansas last time out. Collin Cooper also has 9.7 PPG for Central Arkansas as well this season. As a team, Central Arkansas is averaging 73.3 PPG on 44% shooting from the field, 30.4% from three and 75.5% from the foul line while allowing 81.5 PPG on 47.1% shooting from the field and 34.2% from three this season.
Stetson is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following an ATS loss and 9-2 ATS in their last 11 Tuesday games while the over is 5-0 in their last 5 road games. Central Arkansas is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games following an ATS loss and 4-0 ATS in their last 4 home games against a team with a road winning percentage below .400 while the over is 10-2 in their last 12 games following a loss.
I get the case to be made for Stetson here as Central Arkansas has been tough to watch at times defensively this season. However, these early round games being at campus sites of the higher team is huge to me as Central Arkansas is scoring 84.5 PPG at home this season while Stetson’s struggling to hit 70 points on the road more often than not. The Bears have also had issues with consistency down the stretch, but the one thing Stetson’s done down the stretch is lose. Give me the Bears in this one.
