Bowling Green Falcons

The Falcons started out the year on a nice 14-4 run, but they’d hit a rough 3-8 run over the new 11 outings. The losses in that time came versus Kent State, Toledo, Central Michigan, Louisiana, Eastern Michigan, Central Michigan, Miami-OH and Ohio. Since then it’s been wins over Western Michigan and Ball State.

In the Ball State game on Friday, the Falcons went into the locker room with a 35-26 edge. Bowling Green kept it up in the second half with a 45-44 run and eventually won 80-70. Leading team scorer Marcus Hill put up 24 points with five assists and five steals in the victory.

Central Michigan Chippewas

Over on the Chippewas’ side, their season began on an 8-9 stretch. Central Michigan found their stride over the next nine with an 8-1 run, though (featuring a loss to only Akron). The Chippewas are 2-3 in their last five games with losses to Miami-OH, Ball State and Kent State.

Central Michigan was able to get back into the win column on Friday versus Eastern Michigan, but it didn’t come easy. The Chippewas gave up a 29-23 halftime lead but eventually won in overtime 65-62. Paul McMillan topped the scorers on 25 points with nine boards and six assists.

ANDREW’S FREE BOWLING GREEN VS CENTRAL MICHIGAN PREDICTION

I’ll lean toward Bowling Green in this one. The Falcons posted a solid all-around effort versus Ball State in their latest win—despite the 14 turnovers, that is. Bowling Green shot 46.7 percent from the field and made 15 of their 18 free throws (83.3 percent), though. The Falcons have scored a combined 153 points in their last pair, following just 117 in the two before that.

In their last meeting with Central Michigan back on February 20, the Falcons took a tough 62-60 road loss in overtime. Bowling Green got off to a rough start with just 17 first-half points and ended up shooting a miserable 27.7 percent from the field and 1-of-17 (5.9 percent) from outside. The Falcons really need to clean some things up (including the 14 turnovers) for this rematch, but I think they’ve got a good shot.
