The Toledo Rockets and the Central Michigan Chippewas meet Tuesday in college basketball action from McGuirk Arena. Toledo is currently 8-4 on the year. The Rockets lost to Kent State in their last game. As for Central Michigan, they’re 2-10 and coming off a win over Kent State. Toledo got off to a nice 6-1 start this year with a lone loss to Oakland as the blemish. Since then it’s been a 3-3 run: the Rockets have beaten Bradley, Marshall and Western Michigan in that stretch while falling to Michigan State, Richmond and Kent State otherwise.

In the Kent State matchup, the Rockets scored 26 points in the first half and 37 more in the second on the way to a 66-63 defeat. Ryan Rollins led the team on 14 points with nine boards, and both JT Shumate and Setric Millner added 12 points apiece.

Over on the CMU side, they beat Eastern Illinois in their third game. Otherwise it was a futile stretch from November 9 to December 29 with 10 losses. The Chippewas finally got a win in their last outing versus Kent State.

In the Kent State matchup, the Chippewas carried a one-point advantage into halftime. Central Michigan was able to hang on for the 72-69 win from there. Harrison Henderson led the team on 18 points with five rebounds in 26 minutes.

The Chippewas are 2-6 ATS in their last eight at home and 3-10-1 ATS in their last 14 Tuesday games. The over is 4-1 in Central Michigan’s last five overall.
Meanwhile, the Rockets are 5-2 ATS in their last seven overall and 10-3 ATS in their last 13 Tuesday games. The under is 5-0 in Toledo’s last five overall.

PICK: I’m going to stick with Toledo. The Rockets need a bounce-back after a flat game against Kent State, though. Scoring has been a mixed bag for Toledo lately; they’ve been below 70 points in four of their last six games. That said, the Rockets should have some decent opportunities to put up points in this one.

As for Central Michigan, I think they’ll hang around for most of the game here. It looks to me like a higher-scoring matchup with Toledo likely to eke out a cover late if they play well.
