Chaminade Looks to Shock the World

Chaminade’s final score against Kansas didn’t look that great, but they were more competitive in that game than the score showed. At half-time they were down by only 12 points, and even though they lost, they have to have gained some confidence. The offense used mostly a balanced attack and there were five different players that put at least seven points. Ross Reeves finished with 12 points, four rebounds, and two assists. They played ten players in the game. Overall the Silverswords have only won a game, but they have been competitive in each of them.

UCLA Falls Just Short

UCLA faced off against Marquette on Monday and it looked like they might pull off the victory, but a shot at the buzzer ended up falling just short and they ended up losing 71-69. Sebastian Machowski had a strong game for Marquette putting up 25 points, six rebounds,  and two assists. On the season UCLA is averaging 73.7 points while their defense is giving up 50.7 points per game. Overall the defense has been the strength and they are going to need the defense to be good here. Adem Bona is having a big season and he is averaging 18 points while shooting 57.1 percent from the field.

After so much energy in the first game, I think this is a letdown spot for UCLA. UCLA is going to be thinking about the loss, and they aren’t going to be very motivated for this game. Chaminade might not even keep it that close, but they don’t have to keep it that close, just close enough to keep it within the number The Silverswords are going to score enough to cover the spread here.
