Charleston Southern vs High Point 1/11/23 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The High Point Panthers and the Charleston Southern Buccaneers meet Wednesday in college basketball action from CSU Field House. High Point is 8-8 overall this year. The Panthers lost to USC Upstate in their last game. As for Charleston Southern, they’re sitting at 6-9 on the season following a win over Presbyterian on Saturday. High Point managed a nice 8-2 run over their first 10 games with losses to only UNLV and Queens NC. The Panthers have lost seven straight though, including losses to UNCW, East Carolina, Longwood, Gardner-Webb, UNC Asheville and USC Upstate in the last six. 

On Saturday versus USC Upstate, the Panthers were down eight points by the break. High Point posted a 39-28 deficit in the second half and limped to a 76-57 result. Jaden House led the team on 15 points. 

Over on the Charleston Southern side, they were 3-7 after 10 games with wins over only Toccoa Falls, Bethune-Cookman and Tennessee State. The Buccaneers are 3-2 since then with wins over Kentucky Christian, USC Upstate and Presbyterian. 

Back on Saturday in the Presbyterian matchup, the Buccaneers managed a 29-24 edge by halftime. Charleston Southern posted a 38-37 run from there and won it 67-61. Tyeree Bryan doubled up on 16 points and 11 rebounds in the victory. 

PICK: I’m going to try Charleston Southern here. The Buccaneers have gotten some manageable matchups during this 3-2 run, and they’ve scored 67 or more points in four of those five games. Charleston Southern certainly has some duds on the card so far this year, however they shouldn’t match up too badly in this one. As for High Point, they’ve posted 72 or more points in five of the seven games in this losing streak but they’re giving up a ton of points on the other side. We should have a fairly high-scoring affair in this one.
