The William & Mary Tribe and the College of Charleston Cougars meet Tuesday in college basketball action from TD Arena. William & Mary are currently 4-15 this year and fresh off a win over Drexel. William & Mary had a rough run out of the gate this year at 1-12—the lone win was November 27 versus Mary Baldwin. It’s been a 3-3 stretch since then for the Tribe. They’ve taken out Hofstra, Northeastern and Drexel during that time.
In the Saturday matchup versus Drexel, the Tribe posted 34 points in the first half and 49 more from there to stay in front for the 83-75 victory. William & Mary’s top scorer was Connor Kochera with 23 points and five rebounds.
Over on the Charleston side, they went 7-3 in their first 10 games this year with losses to North Carolina, Oklahoma State and Furman. Since then the Cougars are just 2-5 with losses to Stetson, Delaware, UNC Wilmington, Towson and James Madison.
In the James Madison game, the Cougars were down 48-45 at the break. Charleston fought back on a 49-47 run in the second half but couldn’t close the deal in a 95-94 loss. Reyne Smith was the top scorer on 21 points and three assists.
The Cougars are 0-4 ATS in their last four at home and 1-4 ATS in their last five overall. Charleston is 6-0-1 ATS in the last seven Tuesday games.
Meanwhile, the Tribe are 2-8 ATS in their last 10 road games and 5-1 ATS in their last six overall. The over is 5-0 in William & Mary’s last five overall.
PICK: I’m probably going to stick with Charleston. The Cougars have been sketchy lately and they’re coming off a sloppy game, though. Charleston shot a nice 48.5 percent with 45 rebounds versus Drexel but also coughed up 20 turnovers in the loss. Still, the Cougars have scored pretty well in comparable matchups this year and shouldn’t have problems putting up points in this one. I like William & Mary to score well and hang around in this game, but I think Charleston will power out the cover.
