Wofford has had their ups and downs this year, and they were sitting at 14-11 overall after a 2-4 run back on February 19. Since then the Terriers have been better at 5-1 across six outings. The wins in that time have come versus Western Carolina, the Citadel, Mercer and VMI.
In the Saturday tournament matchup versus VMI, the Terriers were down 36-35 heading into the second half. Wofford surged on a 33-30 run from there for a nice 68-66 comeback win. Tops in scoring for the Terriers was Morgan Safford with 17 points and seven rebounds.
Over on the Chattanooga side, they’ve remained quite consistent this year and have only lost consecutive games twice. The Mocs are currently on a three-game win streak. They’ve taken out East Tennessee State, Samford and the Citadel in that time.
In the Citadel game on Saturday, the Mocs posted a 37-23 run in the first half. Chattanooga was outscored 43-34 from there but hung on for the 71-66 win. David Jean-Baptiste put up 20 points with two rebounds to lead the team in the victory.
Chattanooga is 8-17-2 ATS in their last 27 neutral-site games and 6-18-3 ATS in their last 27 Sunday games. Meanwhile, the Terriers are 1-3-1 ATS in their last five neutral-site games and 4-9 ATS in their last 13 overall.
PICK: I’m going to take a stab on Wofford here. The Terriers have been on a good scoring run lately; they’ve hit 68 or more in four straight games. There were certainly some duds on the scoreboard back in January/February, but the surge has helped Wofford to a 5-1 stretch over the last half-dozen games.
The Terriers lost both games against Chattanooga this season, 75-67 and 71-60. That said, I think Wofford will be able to hang around in this one and carve out a cover in a fun game.
