The Florida A&M Rattlers and the Cincinnati Bearcats meet Tuesday in college basketball action from Fifth Third Arena. Florida A&M is 2-6 so far this year. Florida A&M has managed wins over Le Moyne-Owen and Fort Valley State in their first eight games. Outside of those, it’s been losses to Kansas State, Miami, UTEP, UC Riverside, Florida Gulf Coast and Akron.
In the Akron matchup, the Rattlers fell behind 30-25 at halftime and didn’t get any closer in a 73-66 loss. MJ Randolph was the top scorer with 21 points, six rebounds, two assists and three steals.
Over on the Bearcats’ side, they beat Evansville, Georgia, Alabama A&M, Presbyterian and Illinois before a pair of losses to Arkansas and Monmouth. After two more wins, Cincinnati fell to Xavier back on Saturday.
Cincinnati was overmatched versus Xavier from the start, falling behind 42-27 at the break in an 83-63 blowout loss. John Newman led the team on his 14 points, and David DeJulius added 12 points with two assists.
The Bearcats are 24-49-2 ATS in the last 75 overall and 5-15-2 ATS in their last 22 at home. Cincinnati is 11-4-1 ATS in their last 16 Tuesday games.
Meanwhile, the Rattlers are 5-1 ATS in their last six after an ATS win and 5-2 ATS in their last seven road games. Florida A&M is 8-2 ATS in their last 10 Tuesday games.
PICK: I’m probably going to stay with Cincinnati here. The Bearcats struggled in their last game, hitting the wall against a very good Xavier team. Cincinnati shot 37.3 percent from the field in that one with a 41-28 rebounding deficit, four steals and zero blocks. As for Florida A&M, they’ve been at 66 points or fewer in each of their last two games, and I don’t think they’ll have too many scoring opportunities here. Should be a big Bearcats win—just depends on how big.
