Tulsa Golden Hurricane 

Tulsa started the year on a rough 4-12 run, beating only Jackson State, Loyola IL, Central Michigan and MS Valley State. The Hurricane are 1-3 since then with losses to SMU, East Carolina and Memphis in that time. 

In the Memphis game on Sunday, the Hurricane trailed by two points at the break. Tulsa didn’t end up getting any closer on a 43-33 second-half run in an 80-68 loss. Tim Dalger led the team on 17 points with five rebounds. 

Cincinnati Bearcats

Over on the Cincinnati side, they lost to Northern Kentucky, Arizona, Ohio State, Xavier and Temple in their first 16 games. The Bearcats are 3-3 in their last six games with losses to Houston (twice) and Memphis. 

In the Saturday rematch versus Houston, the Bearcats were up 43-36 going into the second half. Cincinnati was outscored 39-26 from there and lost 75-69. Landers Nolley was the top scorer in the defeat with 24 points and six rebounds.

I’m going to stay with Cincinnati. The Bearcats had a rough second half in their last game against Houston, but overall they didn’t play too badly. Cincinnati ended up shooting 44.3 percent from the field with just nine turnovers in that one, but got out-rebounded 35-27 by the Cougars (who shot 56.6 percent). Cincinnati has failed to reach 70 points in four of their last six games (going 1-3 in those) but should notch a decent total in this one. Tulsa has given up 73 or more points in 10 straight games so Cincinnati will certainly have some scoring opportunities.
