Florida State managed to go just 5-13 over their first 18 games this year in a rough start. The Seminoles have been mildly better since then, going 3-5 over their last eight with losses to Miami, Clemson, NC State, Syracuse and Pittsburgh.
In Saturday’s matchup versus Pittsburgh, the Seminoles were trailing 37-33 by the break. Florida State was outscored 46-42 from there and lost 83-75. Jalen Warley was the team’s top scorer with 23 points and four rebounds.
Clemson Tigers
Over on the Clemson side, they started out the year on a 15-3 run across 18 games. The Tigers are just 3-4 in their last seven games however, falling to Wake Forest, Boston College, Miami and North Carolina alongside wins over Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech and Florida State.
On Saturday versus North Carolina, Clemson was outscored 42-33 in the first half. The Tigers hit a 49-38 deficit the rest of the way and lost 91-71. PJ Hall topped the team on 18 points and Chase Hunter added 15 points with four rebounds.

I’ll lean toward Clemson here. The Tigers need a good bounce-back game following a tepid effort versus North Carolina on Saturday, though. Clemson shot pretty well in that one (45.3 percent) but got out-rebounded 11-5 on the offensive glass and had 13 turnovers. These teams last met up back on January 28 at Donald L. Tucker Center in a tense 82-81 road victory for the Tigers. I like Clemson to ride the home lift at Littlejohn in this rematch and cruise to a cover. Should be an interesting matchup that will tell us where Clemson stands as the season winds down.
