The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and the Clemson Tigers meet Tuesday in college basketball action from Littlejohn Coliseum. Here’s a Clemson vs Georgia Tech prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Clemson vs Georgia Tech pick.

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets Betting Preview

The Yellow Jackets have had a few decent (and brief) stretches of quality play so far this year, but on the whole, they’ve underperformed. Georgia Tech opened on a 4-6 run with wins over West Georgia, Texas Southern, Charleston Southern, and Central Arkansas alongside losses to North Florida, Georgia, Cincinnati, Oklahoma, North Carolina, and Northwestern. A 4-1 run came next with a lone loss to Duke among wins over UMBC, Alabama A&M, Notre Dame, and Boston College. Since then it’s been a 2-5 stretch for the Jackets. The wins have come versus Virginia Tech and Louisville; otherwise, it’s been losses to Syracuse, SMU, Clemson, Florida State, and Notre Dame in that time for a 10-12 overall run through the first 22 games.

In the Louisville matchup on Saturday, the Yellow Jackets came out of the break looking up at a 38-27 deficit on the scoreboard. Georgia Tech woke up from there on a 50-32 run however, eventually winning 77-70 in comeback fashion. Lance Terry led the team with his 23 points and two steals, while Baye Ndongo doubled up on 12 points with 11 rebounds. Naithan George added 15 points with nine assists, and Duncan Powell provided 11 bench points in 33 minutes.

Clemson Tigers Betting Preview

Over on the Tigers’ side, they’ve been one of the more consistent teams in the country so far this year. Clemson has just one instance of consecutive losses in the books. In their 9-1 start the Tigers took out Charleston Southern, St. Francis PA, Eastern Kentucky, Radford, San Francisco, Penn State, Florida A&M, Kentucky, and Miami. Next came losses to Memphis and South Carolina before wins over Wake Forest, Stanford, and California. Following a loss to Louisville came wins over Florida State, Georgia Tech, Pitt, Syracuse, Virginia Tech, and NC State for an 18-4 overall run so far this season through 22 games for the Tigers.

Matched up against NC State in their Saturday outing, the Tigers held a 34-31 advantage by the break. Clemson kept it up in the second with a 34-27 run and took the eventual victory 68-58. Chase Hunter was the team’s top scorer with 20 points, two rebounds, and two assists. Viktor Lakhin added 13 points with 11 rebounds, two blocks and two steals. Chauncey Wiggins chipped in with 11 points in 32 minutes of action during the win as well.

Why the Clemson Tigers will win

  • Clemson has won each of its last 11 night games at Littlejohn Coliseum.
  • Georgia Tech has lost eight of its last nine night games following a home win.
  • Clemson has won the first half in each of its last nine night games at Littlejohn Coliseum.

Why the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets will win

  • The road team has won four of Clemson’s last five games.
  • The road team has won the first half in four of Clemson’s last five games.

Clemson vs Georgia Tech prediction

I’ll stick with Clemson. The Tigers didn’t have a ton of issues with a middling NC State team in their last outing, holding the Wolfpack to just 38.3 percent from the field with 48.1 percent for themselves. The one glaring blemish in the win, however, was the 38-28 rebounding discrepancy (13-4 offensive). Otherwise, it was a pretty solid effort all-around for the Tigers. Clemson is rolling along quite nicely right now on a six-game win streak. They’ve scored 68 or more points in each of those outings as well.

The last time these teams met up was back on January 14 in a 70-59 road victory for the Tigers. In that one Clemson played some nice defense as well, holding the Jackets to just 35.2 percent shooting and scoring 15 points off 14 turnovers. The rebounding wasn’t great in that one either, though. Clemson was outmuscled on the glass 36-32 overall and 12-5 on the offensive boards. I’d like to see a better effort rebounding-wise at home in this rematch, but the Tigers should have the advantage in most facets on paper at least. Clemson will roll if they play to their capabilities.
