Clemson vs NC State 12/30/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The NC State Wolfpack and the Clemson Tigers meet Friday in college basketball action from Littlejohn Coliseum. NC State sits at 11-3 on the year. The Wolfpack beat Louisville in their last game. NC State won their first four games this year before falling to Kansas. The Wolfpack would rebound with three straight wins, then fall to Pittsburgh and Miami-FL over the next trio of games. NC State has since beaten Furman, Vanderbilt and Louisville. 

Last Wednesday versus Louisville, the Wolfpack took a slim 31-28 lead into the break. NC State got better on a 45-36 run and won it 76-64. DJ Burns was the top team scorer with 17 points and six rebounds. 

Over on the Clemson side, they went 4-2 in their first six with losses to South Carolina and Iowa. The Tigers have gone 6-1 since then with wins over California, Penn State, Wake Forest, Towson, Richmond and Georgia Tech. 

In the Georgia Tech matchup last Wednesday, the Tigers jumped out to a 40-26 lead at the break. Clemson cruised in the second half on another 39 points in a 79-66 win. Both PJ Hall (25 points; 10 rebounds) and Hunter Tyson (14 points; 13 rebounds) doubled up. 

PICK: I’m going to take a crack on Clemson in this one. We should have a pretty fun matchup here regardless. The Tigers are playing well lately; they’ve hit 77 or more points in five of their last six and (outside of a 76-58 loss to Loyola IL) they’ve been competitive in their losses this year. As for NC State, they’ve hit 70 or more points in five straight games but the last couple of victories have been a little shaky at times. Clemson should serve as a tough opponent, and I think the Tigers can ultimately bag a win. Should be a great one to watch.
