Cleveland State vs Kent State 12/10/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Kent State Golden Flashes and the Cleveland State Vikings meet Saturday in college basketball action from Wolstein Center. Kent State is 6-3 overall this year and coming off a loss to Gonzaga. As for Cleveland State, they’re 6-4 on the season. The Vikings lost to St. Bonaventure in their most recent appearance. Kent State won their first five games over Northern Kentucky, Baldwin Wallace, Portland, AR-Pine Bluff and Chicago State. The Flashes went 1-3 over the next four games with losses to Charleston, Houston and Gonzaga. 

In the Gonzaga matchup, Kent State managed a 40-34 deficit by halftime. The Flashes kept the pace from there but eventually lost 73-66. Miryne Thomas was the top team scorer with 16 points, and Malique Jacobs added 11 points. 

Over on the Cleveland State side, they lost three straight games to open the season. The Vikings hit a win streak over Canisius, AR-Pine Bluff, Chicago State, Western Michigan, Oakland and Detroit in the next six. 

On Wednesday versus St. Bonaventure, the Vikings saw their win streak snapped. Cleveland State scored just 22 points in the first half and 20 more in the second during a 61-42 loss. Deante Johnson led the team on just eight points. 

PICK: I’ll probably go with Kent State here. The Vikings played a pretty miserable game versus St. Bonaventure in their last matchup, and they’ll need a good bounce-back performance. Cleveland State did have a run of four straight games with 71 or more points prior to that however, so I don’t think they’ll play too badly here. As for Kent State, they’ve been scoring quite well themselves in comparable outings. After facing two ranked teams in their last three games, a matchup versus the Vikings should be no problem for the Golden Flashes.
