Oakland began the year on a 7-4 run, taking losses to West Virginia, Alabama, Bowling Green and Michigan State in that time. Since then it’s been four straight wins over Robert Morris, Youngstown State, Ohio Christian and Milwaukee.
In the Milwaukee matchup back on Sunday, the Grizzlies jumped out to a 47-32 halftime lead hand cruised to the 86-65 win. Micah Parrish led the way on 19 points, and Jalen Moore doubled up on 15 points and 14 boards.
Over on the Cleveland State side, they managed to go 6-3 over their first nine with losses to BYU, Ohio and Oklahoma State. In the last four the Vikings have beaten Fort Wayne (twice), Robert Morris and Youngstown State.
Matched up against Youngstown State, the Vikings were down 35-27 at the break and needed overtime to pull off the 86-80 comeback win. D’Moi Hodge topped the team on 31 points, and Deante Johnson doubled up on 14 points with 13 rebounds.
The Vikings are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 after an ATS win and the over is 4-1 in their last five Thursday games. The over is 5-1 in Cleveland State’s last six overall.
Meanwhile, Oakland is 4-0 ATS in the last four overall and 1-5 ATS in their last six Thursday games. The over is 4-1 in the Grizzlies’ last five overall.
PICK: I’m going to try Cleveland State. You could probably make a good case either way here, though. The Vikings have been scoring well this year for the most part, hitting 72 or more points in seven of their last eight outings. Oakland is no stranger to scoring either; they’ve hit 72 or more points in 10 straight games. This one looks like a high-total matchup, and should be a fun one to watch.
