Cleveland State vs Oakland 12/1/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Oakland Golden Grizzlies and the Cleveland State Vikings meet Thursday in college basketball action from Wolstein Center. Oakland is 2-6 so far this year. The Grizzlies lost to Missouri State in their last outing. As for Cleveland State, they’re currently 4-3 and fresh off a win over Western Michigan. Oakland began their season with a win over Defiance 92-27. The Grizzlies hit a losing streak after that, falling to Bowling Green, Oklahoma State and Toledo. After a win over Eastern Michigan Oakland lost to LBSU and San Jose State. 

On Sunday versus Missouri State, the Grizzlies recorded another loss. Oakland kept the pace in the first half but was outscored 43-31 from there in a 76-64 defeat. Keaton Hervey led the team on 24 points, and both Trey Townsend and Blake Lampman added 13 points. 

Over on the Cleveland State side, they lost three straight to open up the year versus Notre Dame OH, Cincinnati and Ohio. The Vikings hit a win streak after that, taking out Canisius, AR-Pine Bluff and Chicago State in the next trio. 

On Saturday versus Western Michigan, Cleveland State was able to keep their run going. The Vikings jumped out to a 38-19 edge by the break and kept it up in a 71-49 win. Drew Lowder topped the team on 15 points. Tristan Enaruna added 14 points as well. 

PICK: I’m staying with Cleveland State. The Vikings seem to have found their stride after an 0-3 start, and they’re playing pretty well during this four-game win streak. Cleveland State has been fairly erratic in scoring this year. That said, the Vikings have hit 71 or more points in consecutive games and should hang a decent total here. As for Oakland, they’ve hit 67 or more points in six of eight games this year. This matchup should be a fairly high-scoring outcome if both teams are on point.
