The Robert Morris Colonials and the Cleveland State Vikings meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Wolstein Center. Here’s a Cleveland State vs Robert Morris prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Cleveland State vs Robert Morris pick.
Robert Morris Colonials Betting Preview
Robert Morris has a couple of sketchy runs in the books so far this year, but overall they’re doing pretty well record-wise. The Colonials opened on a 6-5 stretch with wins over Chatham University, Stonehill, Lindenwood, New Orleans, Cornell, and Canisius. The losses otherwise were against West Virginia, Delaware, Ohio, Youngstown State, and Fort Wayne. A 4-2 run came next with losses to Detroit and Cleveland State among wins over Towson, St. Francis PA, Northern Kentucky, and Oakland. Since then it’s been an 8-1 run with a lone loss to Wright State among wins over Wright State, Green Bay, Milwaukee, Youngstown State, Oakland, IUPUI, Detroit, and Northern Kentucky in succession, giving the Colonials an 18-8 overall run through their first 26 outings of the season.
In the Northern Kentucky matchup back on Saturday, the Colonials came out of the first half with a 41-39 deficit. Robert Morris cleaned it up on a 42-35 run from there and took the comeback win 81-76 in the end. Alvaro Folgueiras led the team with a double-double of 35 points, 10 rebounds, two assists, and two steals in 39 minutes of action. Kam Woods was the only other team player to finish in double-figures with 15 points, seven assists, and three rebounds in 37 minutes. DJ Smith added nine points with three rebounds as well.
Cleveland State Vikings Betting Preview
Over on the Cleveland State side, they didn’t look so good during their first 10 outings but to their credit, the Vikings have really surged since early December. Cleveland State beat only Baldwin Wallace, Valparaiso, Eastern Michigan, and NJIT in their first 10 games, losing otherwise to Michigan, Kansas State, Minnesota, Kent State, Morehead State, and Milwaukee in that time. Cleveland State would then hit a winning streak over Green Bay, Brescia, Oakland, Midway University, Wright State, IUPUI, Robert Morris, Youngstown State, Northern Kentucky, IUPUI, Detroit, Green Bay, and Fort Wayne before another loss to Northern Kentucky. Following a win over Milwaukee, the Vikings had an 18-7 record through their first 25 games this year.
Matched up against Milwaukee in their Saturday game, the Vikings came into the second half with a nice 41-20 edge. Cleveland State cruised in the second during a 40-36 deficit and won pretty easily 77-60 in the end. Tahj Staveskie led the team with 30 points, four assists, and three rebounds. Tevin Smith chipped in 15 points with four rebounds, and Dylan Arnett had 10 points, seven boards, two assists, two steals, and two blocks in 26 minutes of work.

Cleveland State vs Robert Morris Prediction
I’ll lean toward the Vikings. You could make a case either way, though; we should have a pretty good matchup if both teams play to their capabilities. The Vikings are coming off a good bounce-back win over Milwaukee, posting 42.6 percent shooting with 34 rebounds and 30 points off 25 Panthers turnovers. That gives Cleveland State 68 or more points in 13 of the 15 outings during this current 14-1 stretch.
When these teams last saw each other back on January 8, Cleveland State secured an 80-69 road win. The game was pretty tight most of the way with both teams shooting well (over 47 percent). The Vikings persevered thanks to 27 points off 20 Colonials turnovers, though. Cleveland State won’t be able to rely on so many mistakes this time, so they’ll have to keep the shooting percentage high and stay competitive on the boards. In the comfortable home environment, I like the Vikings to pull it off. Should be fairly close, though.
