Coastal Carolina vs Valparaiso 11/23/2021 College Basketball Picks, Best Bets and Odds

The Valparaiso Beacons and the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers meet Tuesday in college basketball action from Baha Mar Convention Center. Valparaiso is coming off an eight-point victory over Jacksonville State on Monday. As for Coastal Carolina, they’re sitting at 1-1 so far and coming off a loss to UNC Wilmington in their last game. Valparaiso had a three-game losing streak to start the 2021-22 season. The Beacons fell to Toledo 69-61 in the opener, then dropped another close one to UIC 74-70. Game three was another loss to Stanford 74-60. 

In the Monday game against Jacksonville State, the Beacons got their first victory of the year. Valparaiso was down 32-28 at the break but posted 50 points from there in a 78-70 win. Ben Krikke led the team with 25 points and three rebounds.

Over on the Coastal Carolina side, they posted a big victory over Ferrum College in their opener. The Chanticleers scored 62 points in the first half alone on the way to a 101-73 win. Leading scorer Essam Mostafa put  up 24 points with 14 rebounds. 

Game two back on Thursday didn’t go as well for the Chanticleers. Coastal Carolina matched up against UNC Wilmington, eventually falling 65-53. Vince Cole led the team with 12 points, and Mostafa put up 11 points with 11 rebounds. 

PICK: I’m going to stick with Valparaiso. The Beacons have been close in a couple of games this year, and finally broke through in the Monday victory. Valparaiso shot 44.8 percent from the field with 34 rebounds and 12 assists during their first win.
As for Coastal Carolina, they’re coming off a pretty flat game against UNCW. The Chanticleers shot just 33.9 percent from the floor with 3-of-15 on 3-point shots. The rebounding was solid (44) but the shots just weren’t falling. We’ll see how Coastal responds here.
