The Boston University Terriers and the Colgate Raiders meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Cotterell Court. Boston U is 9-8 overall following a ross to American on Sunday. Boston U hit a 5-5 run out of the gate this year, losing to UConn, SEMO, Milwaukee, UC Davis and Notre Dame along the way. The Terriers are 4-3 since then with wins over Marist, Dartmouth, Bucknell and Lafayette.
On Sunday versus American, the Terriers were down 32-29 at the break. Boston made a run in the second half but ultimately fell short 76-74. Walter Whyte managed a double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds.
Over on the Colgate side, they hit a 5-5 run through 10 games as well. losing to Buffalo, Duquesne, Delaware, Penn and Auburn. The Raiders went 4-2 in their next six with losses to Vermont and Cornell in that stretch.
On Monday versus Army, Colgate was tied up 42-42 going into the second half. The Raiders managed a 35-33 advantage from there and won it 77-75. Tops in scoring was Keegan Records with 17 points and five boards.
PICK: I’ll probably stick with Boston here. We should have a pretty good matchup on our hands if they play well. The Terriers gave a solid effort against a talented American squad in their last outing, and they’ve hit 69 or more points in three straight games. Boston needs to get off to a good start here; if they can get the scoring going early I think the Terriers will be in decent shape down the stretch. Colgate has been scoring quite well lately though and they’ll be trouble if the Raiders are playing to their capabilities.
