The North Carolina Tar Heels and the College of Charleston Cougars meet Tuesday in college basketball action from TD Arena. North Carolina is 2-0 so far this year, following wins over Loyola-MD and Brown. As for Charleston, they’re 3-0 and coming off a win versus Loyola-MD. North Carolina took on Loyola-MD in their opener this year, jumping out to a 45-31 halftime lead and rolling from there toward an 83-67 victory. Caleb Love was the team’s top scorer with 22 points, two rebounds and two assists.

In game two against Brown the Tar Heels didn’t have it so easy. North Carolina was in trouble with a 50-47 halftime deficit, but outscored the Bears by 10 points from there in a 94-87 win. RJ Davis led the way on 26 points with six assists and two rebounds.

Over on the College of Charleston side, they took on South Carolina State in their first game. The Cougars had their offense working well in a 106-74 rout. Game two was another big win for Charleston; they took out Lipscomb 86-77 in that one.

The Cougars’ first real test of the season came against Loyola-MD. Charleston was up 38-33 at halftime and kept Loyola at bay from there in a 79-72 victory. Brenden Tucker made three 3-pointers on the way to 20 points with three rebounds and one assist in the win.

Charleston is 3-0-1 ATS in their last four Tuesday games and 1-9-1 ATS in their last 11 as an underdog. The Cougars are 1-4-1 ATS in their last six as a home underdog.

Meanwhile, the Tar Heels are 3-7-1 ATS in their last 11 road games and 0-3-1 ATS in their last five overall. North Carolina is 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight Tuesday games.

PICK: I’m going to try North Carolina in this one. The Tar Heels got into a bit of trouble in the first half of their last game versus Brown, but eventually righted the ship. North Carolina shot 51.6 percent from the floor and had a 39-30 rebound advantage. The Bears deserve some credit for playing a great game as well.

As for Charleston, they shot a lukewarm 39.7 percent from the floor in the win over Loyola-MD, with 9-of-28 (32.1 percent) from 3-point range. The 50 rebounds and 14 team assists helped ice the win. I think the Cougars can hang around for the first half here, but UNC should bag the cover if they’re on point.
