Colorado State vs New Mexico Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 3/3/23

The New Mexico Lobos and the Colorado State Rams meet Friday in college basketball action from Moby Arena. New Mexico is sitting at 21-9 overall this year. The Lobos beat Fresno State in their last outing. As for Colorado State, they’re currently 13-17 after a loss to San Jose State on Tuesday. New Mexico Lobos

New Mexico’s season began on a solid 19-3 run through their first 22 games. The Lobos are a rough 2-6 in their last eight however, falling to Utah State, Nevada, Air Force, Wyoming, Boise State and San Diego State in that time. 

The Lobos took on Fresno State on Tuesday, carving out a 50-42 edge by halftime. New Mexico hit a 44-38 run in the second and took the victory 94-80. Leading the way was Morris Udeze with 25 points and nine rebounds. 

Colorado State Rams 

Over on the Colorado State side, they posted a sketchy 10-12 record over their first 22 outings. The Rams are 3-5 in their last eight games with losses to UNLV, Utah State, Boise State, San Diego State and San Jose State during that stretch. 

Back on Tuesday versus San Jose State, Colorado State was down 27-22 going into the second half. The Rams didn’t get any closer on a 36-24 run and ended up losing 63-46. Patrick Cartier led the team on his 17 points and six rebounds. 

ANDREW’S FREE PICK 

I’ll stick with New Mexico in this one. The Lobos aren’t playing all that well over this current 2-6 run, but the good news is that they’re 2-2 in the last four and scoring well. New Mexico has 71 or more points in 14 of the last 15 games. These teams last met up back on December 28 at the Pit. New Mexico didn’t have any issues in that one, jumping out to a 49-24 halftime lead during an eventual 88-69 victory. Colorado State probably won’t go down that easily at home, but I still like the Lobos on the cover/win.
