The San Diego State Aztecs and the Colorado State Rams meet Friday in college basketball action from Moby Arena. San Diego State is 12-5 so far this year. The Aztecs are coming off a win over New Mexico. As for Colorado State, they’re 16-3 on the season and coming off an OT loss to Wyoming. San Diego State posted a 10-3 start to the year, falling to only BYU, USC and Michigan. The Aztecs have been on a 2-2 run since January 22. They’ve fallen to Boise State and Utah State alongside wins over UNLV and New Mexico in that time.

On Monday versus New Mexico, the Aztecs got off to a 36-22 halftime lead. San Diego State cruised from there in a 72-47 blowout win. Leading the scoring with 14 points were Matt Bradley and Keshad Johnson. Johnson also had 10 rebounds for a double-double.

Over on the Colorado State side, they lost just one of their first 17 games—notably a road loss to San Diego State. The Rams have faltered in the last pair; those games have ended up losses to UNLV and Wyoming.

Matched up against Wyoming on Monday, the Rams traded punches the whole way and ended up needing overtime to decide the game. At the buzzer, Colorado State had a tough 84-78 loss. David Roddy led the team on 23 points with five rebounds.

The Rams are 5-19-2 ATS in the last 26 Friday games and 1-4 ATS in their last five at home. The under is 5-1 in Colorado State’s last six after an ATS loss.
Meanwhile, the Aztecs are 1-4 ATS in their last five Friday games and 1-4 ATS in their last five road games. SDSU is 6-2 ATS in their last eight overall.

PICK: I’m going to try Colorado State here. The Rams have had some tough games over the last pair, falling to UNLV and Wyoming. The good news is that Colorado State has still been scoring well; they’ve hit 74 or more in each of the last seven outings.

The last time these teams met up on January 8, the Aztecs secured a 79-49 blowout win. I like Colorado State to have a better game here and come up with a cover/win. Should be an interesting matchup regardless.
