Colorado State vs USC 12/21/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The USC Trojans and the Colorado State Rams meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Footprint Center. USC enters this one at 9-3 overall. The Trojans took an upset win over Auburn in their last game. As for Colorado State, they’re 8-4 overall following a win over Saint Mary’s on Sunday. USC managed to go 4-2 over their first six games this year, losing to only Florida Gulf Coast and Tennessee. After another loss to Wisconsin, the Trojans beat California, Oregon State, CSUF, Long Beach State and Auburn in succession. 

In the big Sunday matchup versus Auburn, the Trojans trailed 39-35 by the break. USC hit a 39-32 run in the second half for a 74-71 comeback win. Tops in scoring was Boogie Ellis with 28 points and two assists. 

Over on the Colorado State side, they won their first four games before consecutive losses to Charleston and Penn State. The Rams are 4-2 in their last six with wins over MS Valley State, LMU, Peru State and Saint Mary’s. 

In the Saint Mary’s matchup, Colorado State went into the locker room tied at 30-30. The Rams scored 32 more in the second half and powered out a 62-60 win. Isaiah Stevens led the team on 23 points with five assists and one rebound. 

PICK: I may take a stab on Colorado State here. The Rams posted a gutsy win over a pretty good Saint Mary’s team in their last outing. Colorado State has a few relative scoreboard duds this year, however they’re scoring pretty well in comparable matchups. As for USC, they’re coming off their best game of the year in the upset win over Auburn. The Trojans have generally been very competitive this year (even in their losses). That said, I like Colorado State to sneak in a cover as USC suffers a mild hangover from the Auburn victory.
