The Brown Bears and the Colorado Buffaloes meet Monday in college basketball action from Sports and Fitness Center. Brown is 4-2 on the young season and coming off a win over Bradley. As for Colorado, they’re 4-1 and fresh off a win over Duquesne. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

Brown kicked off the year with a big win over Salve Regina 89-59 and a loss to North Carolina 94-87. Two wins over Central CT State and JWU-Providence came after that, then a 78-57 loss to Creighton in game five.

On Saturday against Bradley, Brown got back in the win column again. The Bears posted 33 points in the first half and 32 more in the second, enough for a 65-62 win. David Mitchell, Dan Friday and Kino Lilly each scored 11 points there.

Over on the Colorado side, they managed wins in their first trio this year to begin the season at 3-0. The Buffaloes took out Montana State 94-90, New Mexico 87-76 and Maine 90-46. Colorado took a loss to Southern Illinois 67-63 in the next outing.

On Saturday in the Duquesne game, Colorado needed OT but still got the win. The result was an 84-76 victory that brought the Buffaloes to 4-1 on the season. Evan Battey was the top scorer there with 18 points and five boards.

PICK: I’m going to go with Colorado. The Buffaloes had some trouble fending off a plucky Duquesne team in their last outing but still got the job done. Colorado shot a tepid 4-of-19 (21.1 percent) from 3-point range, but were okay from the floor at 40.8 percent overall and pulled down 48 rebounds. The Buffaloes are going to need to be on point here but I think they’ll be fine on a cover.
