The Stanford Cardinal and the Colorado Buffaloes meet Sunday in college basketball action from Coors Events Center. Stanford lost to Utah in their last game, dropping the Cardinal to 12-16 overall. As for Colorado, they’re 19-9 this year and coming off a win over California. Let’s get into our Stanford vs. Colorado prediction. Stanford Cardinal

The Cardinal’s season kicked off on an 11-9 run, but they wouldn’t stay above .500 for long. Stanford has won just one of their last eight games (over USC), falling to Arizona, UCLA, Washington, Washington State, Oregon, Oregon State and Utah otherwise in that stretch.

Matched up against Utah on Thursday, Stanford wasn’t able to get close. The Cardinal were down 46-27 by halftime and fell behind further on a 44-41 second-half run in a 90-68 defeat. Michael Jones led the way on his 20 points and three rebounds in the losing effort.

Colorado Buffaloes

Over on the Colorado side, their year started on a pretty solid 15-5 stretch. The Buffaloes lost four of the next five to Washington State, Utah, Arizona and UCLA (with a win over Arizona State), however. Since then Colorado has notched three straight wins over USC, Utah and California.

In their game versus California back on Wednesday, the Buffaloes came out of halftime with a 46-31 edge. Colorado was outscored 47-43 the rest of the way but didn’t have too may issues in an 88-78 win. Tops in scoring was KJ Simpson with 27 points, seven rebounds, eight assists and four steals.

ANDREW’S FREE STANFORD VS COLORADO PREDICTION

I’ll stay with Colorado. The Buffaloes are playing pretty well right now and coming off another solid win over California. In that one Colorado hit 50 percent from the field with 40 rebounds and 18 assists. The only real blemish was the 12 turnovers (leading to 13 Bears points). Still, that makes 88 or more points in three straight games for the Buffs (all wins).

As for Stanford, they’ve now lost five straight games. The Cardinal are giving up quite a bit of offense along the way—72 or more points in each of those outings. Colorado should have plenty of scoring opportunities in this one and should have an open road to a cover opportunity.
