Coppin State vs James Madison 12/21/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The James Madison Dukes and the Coppin State Eagles meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Physical Education Complex. James Madison is sitting at 9-3 overall this year. The Dukes beat LIU in their last game. As for Coppin State, they’re 4-9 on the season and coming off a loss to George Washington. James Madison managed to go 6-1 overall during their first seven games this year with a lone loss to North Carolina. The Dukes are 3-2 since then with wins over Eastern Kentucky, Gallaudet and LIU. 

In the LIU game, the Dukes were up 65-23 by the break. James Madison scored another 50 points after halftime and won 115-79. Lead scorer Vado Morse put up 15 points, and Alonzo Sule added 12 points and six rebounds. 

Over on the Coppin State side, they went 4-6 over their first 10 games, taking losses to Charlotte, Georgetown, Marshall, Towson, Maryland, UMBC and Loyola MD. The Eagles have since lost consecutive games to NC State, East Carolina and George Washington. 

Matched up against George Washington, the Eagles trailed by two points going into the second half. Coppin State was outscored 49-39 in the second for an 83-71 loss. Tops in scoring was Sam Sessoms with 23 points. 

PICK: I’ll probably stick with James Madison. The Dukes have played well over their last seven games. They’re 5-2 in that time with a two-point loss to Valparaiso and a five-point loss to Virginia as the blemishes. James Madison has hit 79 or more points in six of those seven as well. As for Coppin, they’ve scored well lately themselves with 71 or more points in six straight games. The Eagles are also giving up a ton of points on the other side however, so JMU should have plenty of scoring opportunities here.
