The Alabama Crimson Tide and the Creighton Bluejays meet Saturday in college basketball action from CenturyLink Center Omaha. Alabama lost to Purdue in their most recent outing which dropped the Tide to 6-3 overall. As for Creighton, they’re 8-2 following a loss to UNLV back on Wednesday. Let’s get into our Alabama vs. Creighton prediction. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.
Alabama Crimson Tide
The Tide were able to win six of their first eight games this year, taking losses to Ohio State and Clemson mixed with wins over Morehead State, Indiana State, South Alabama, Mercer and Arkansas State. In the 89-65 win over the Red Wolves, Alabama shot a solid 41.9 percent from 3-point range in a dominant effort.
In their latest outing versus Purdue, the Tide were outmatched. Alabama was competitive though, and went into the locker room with a two-point lead before a 92-86 loss in the end. Tops in scoring for the Tide was Mark Sears with 35 points, four rebounds and one assist.
Creighton Bluejays
Over on the Creighton side, they only lost one of their first nine games this year: a 69-48 dud versus Colorado State. Outside of that, the Bluejays beat Florida A&M, North Dakota State, Iowa, Texas Southern, Loyola, Oklahoma State, Nebraska and Central Michigan in those first nine outings.
The Bluejays fell back into the loss column in their last game versus UNLV, Creighton took a 36-28 deficit into the second half and couldn’t get any closer in a 79-64 finish. Leading the way in the losing effort was Ryan Kalkbrenner with 22 points, eight rebounds and five blocks to his credit.
ANDREW’S FREE ALABAMA VS CREIGHTON PREDICTION
I’ll probably go back to Creighton here. The Bluejays aren’t inspiring a lot of confidence right now after their loss to a mediocre UNLV team in their last outing. Creighton gave up 52.5 percent shooting and had 11 turnovers in that one. That said, I like the Jays to regain form and bounce back here. They’ve hit 79 or more points in all eight wins so far this year, so a big scoring effort will go a long way.
As for Alabama, they’ve been scoring well themselves—even in their losses. The Tide have hit 77 or more points in all nine of their outings, but they’re just 2-3 in the last five. I like Saturday’s matchup to be another high-scoring affair on both sides, with Creighton powering out the cover.
