Creighton vs Butler 12/22/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Butler Bulldogs and the Creighton Bluejays meet Thursday in college basketball action from CenturyLink Center Omaha. Butler is 8-4 overall so far. The Bulldogs lost to UConn in their last game. Butler has managed wins over New Orleans, St. Francis PA, the Citadel, BYU, Kansas State, Tennessee Tech, Cal and Yale so far this year. The losses have come to Penn State, Tennessee, NC State and UConn. 

In the Saturday matchup versus UConn, Butler scored just 20 points in the first half. The Bulldogs were outpaced 40-26 in the second for a 68-46 blowout loss. Manny Bates was the top team scorer on 16 points and three rebounds. 

Over on the Creighton side, they won six straight games to start the year, culminating with a win over Arkansas. Since then the Bluejays have lost to Arizona, Texas, Nebraska, BYU, Arizona State and Marquette in succession. 

Back on Friday versus Marquette, the Bluejays posted a 40-31 first-half deficit. Creighton didn’t end up getting any closer than that in a 69-58 defeat. Both Fredrick King (16 points; 10 rebounds) and Baylor Scheierman (14 points; 11 rebounds) doubled up. 

PICK: I’ll probably stick with Butler. You could probably make a case either way here, though. The Bulldogs are coming off a rough loss versus a very good UConn team, but in their previous four games Butler went 4-0 with at least 71 points scored in each outing. Creighton has given up 69 or more points in three straight games (two to ranked teams), so Butler should have some opportunities to score. Probably staying away from this one, though; I could see Creighton posting a good outing here as well.
