Creighton vs Villanova Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 2/4/23

The Villanova Wildcats and the Creighton Bluejays meet Saturday in college basketball action from CenturyLink Center Omaha. Villanova is currently 10-12 on the year following a loss to Marquette on Wednesday. As for Creighton, they’re 14-8 overall this season. The Bluejays beat Georgetown in their Wednesday game. Villanova Wildcats 

Villanova kicked off their year on a .500 run, going 8-8 over their first 16 games. The Wildcats have since hit a 2-4 stretch, beating Georgetown and St. John’s with losses otherwise to DePaul, Butler, Providence and Marquette. 

In the Marquette game on Wednesday, the Wildcats nursed a one-point halftime lead 35-34. Villanova trailed 39-29 the rest of the way however and lost 73-64. Both Eric Dixon and Caleb Daniels turned in 14 points to lead the team. 

Creighton Bluejays

Over on the Creighton side, they were slightly better through 16 games this year at 9-7 overall. The Bluejays would then lose to Xavier before beating Providence, Butler, St. John’s, Xavier and Georgetown in the next five. 

Matched up against Georgetown on Wednesday, the Bluejays took a 35-21 edge into the locker room. Creighton cruised on a 32-28 deficit from there in a 63-53 win. Ryan Kalkbrenner topped the team on 16 points with eight rebounds. 

ANDREW’S FREE PICK 

I’ll probably stay with Creighton. The Bluejays are on a nice run over this five-game win streak, and they played pretty well versus Georgetown on Wednesday. Creighton shot a tepid 38.3 percent in that one but won the rebounding battle 48-34. The Bluejays had been scoring very well before that, with 73 or more points in five straight games. As for Villanova, they’ve faced some tough teams lately and haven’t hit more than 65 points for three straight outings. If Creighton can get their offense going in this one I don’t think the Wildcats will keep up.
