Davidson vs South Carolina 11/18/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The South Carolina Gamecocks and the Davidson Wildcats meet Friday in college basketball action from TD Arena. South Carolina is 2-1 on the season so far and coming off a loss to Colorado State on Thursday. As for Davidson, they’re coming off a Thursday loss to Charleston. South Carolina kicked off their season with a matchup versus South Carolina State. The Gamecocks were up by three at the break and held on for an 80-77 win. In game two versus Clemson, South Carolina managed another close win 60-58. 

In Thursday’s matchup versus Colorado State, the Gamecocks were drilled 40-19 in the first half. South Carolina limped to an 85-53 blowout loss from there. Tops in scoring (and the only one one the team in double-figures) was Gregory “GG” Jackson with 20 points and seven rebounds. 

Over on the Davidson side, they had a pretty easy time with Guilford in their opener this year, bagging an 87-64 win. The Wildcats kept it going with a 102-97 win over Wright State, then took out VMI 75-71 in game three back on Sunday. 

In Thursday’s game versus Charleston, Davidson’s luck ran out. The Wildcats were down 44-30 going into the second half. Davidson scored 36 points from there in an 89-66 loss. Leading the way in scoring was Sam Mennenga with 19 points and eight rebounds. 

PICK: I’m probably going to stay with Davidson. This one seems a little tough, though. The Wildcats didn’t shoot too badly in their Thursday loss (43.1 percent). That said they were out-rebounded 42-32 and committed 17 turnovers. 

As for South Carolina, they were ice cold against Colorado State Thursday, shooting just 31.1 percent from the floor and 30.8 percent (8-of-26) from outside. It was a lost cause from early on in the game. I think the Gamecocks will match up better here but not cover.
