Dayton vs Alcorn State 12/20/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Alcorn State Braves and the Dayton Flyers meet in college basketball action from the UD Arena on Tuesday night.

The Alcorn State Braves will try to snap a five-game losing skid after a 72-58 loss to Seattle last time out. Dominic Brewton has 12.3 PPG to lead the Braves in scoring along with 4.6 RPG while Byron Joshua has 10.6 PPG with a team-high 2.5 APG to lead the Braves in the assist department as the only other double-digit scorer for Alcorn State up to this point in the season. Jeremiah Kendall also has a team-high 6.5 RPG to lead the Braves on the glass this season. As a team, Alcorn State is averaging 61.4 PPG on 37.2% shooting from the field, 26.6% from three and 68.1% from the foul line this season.

The Dayton Flyers will look to build on a 66-49 win over Wyoming in their last game. DaRon Holmes II leads the Flyers in scoring with 17.2 PPG along with 7.6 RPG while Mustapha Amzil has 10.3 PPG with 4.9 RPG and Toumani Camara also has 11.5 PPG and a team-high 9.1 PPG to lead the Flyers on the glass and Kobe Elvis has 10.1 PPG also to make up the group of double-digit scorers for Dayton up to this point in the season. Mike Sharavjamts also has a team-high 3.3 APG as well this season. As a team, Dayton is averaging 65.1 points per game on 44.4% shooting from the field, 29.1% from three and 67.8% from the foul line this season.                                                                           

Alcorn State is 6-1 ATS in their last 7 Tuesday games and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following an ATS loss while the over is 5-2 in their last 7 road games against a team with a winning home record. I get the case to be made either way in this one, but this is a bigger number than I’m comfortable laying with Dayton. On the other side, Alcorn State’s been competitive in spots, but they’ve also had their teeth kicked in in other ones, so I’ll back the under here. I don’t think we get enough scoring from Dayton to push this one up and over the number, so I think the best course of action is to back the under here.
