The St. John’s Red Storm come into this one looking to build on their 52-51 win over North Texas on Thursday. Entering Thursday’s action, Joel Soriano leads the Red Storm in scoring and rebounding, averaging a double-double per game with 18.5 PPG and 10 RPG along with 2 BPG while Daniss Jenkins has 13.5 PPG with a team-high 5 APG to lead the Red Storm in the assist department. Jordan Dingle’s added 11.5 PPG and Chris Ledlum has 10 PPG with 9.5 RPG to cap off the group of double-digit scorers for St. John’s so far this year. As a team, St. John’s is averaging 81.5 PPG on 43.3% shooting from the field, 40.8% from three and 72.4% from the foul line this season.
Dayton Rallies Vs. LSU
The Dayton Flyers come into this one looking to build on their 70-67 come-from behind win over LSU last time out. Entering Thursday’s matchup, DaRon Holmes II leads the Flyers in scoring with 18 PPG along with 7.5 RPG and 4 APG while Koby Brea has 10.5 PPG as the only other double-digit scorer for Dayton up to this point in the year. Nate Santos and Javon Bennett each have 8.5 PPG with Santos logging a team-high 9.5 RPG while Bennett has a team-high 5.5 APG to lead the Flyers in the assist department. As a team, Dayton is averaging 64.5 PPG on 47.1% shooting from the field, 37% from three and 81.1% from the foul line this season.
I’m on the under here. For Dayton, I think we saw North Texas execute the blueprint on how to slow down this St. John’s offense and that’s by slowing the pace and tightening up on defense which is basically the foundation of Dayton’s core under Anthony Grant. I also think there could be some offensive regression from Dayton as well after such an emotional roller coaster in the win on Thursday, so I’ll side with the under in this one.
