Delaware vs UNC Wilmington Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 2/18/23

The UNC Wilmington Seahawks and the Delaware Fightin’ Blue Hens meet Saturday in college basketball action from Bob Carpenter Center. UNC Wilmington is fresh off a Thursday matchup versus Drexel. In that game the Seahawks took a close overtime win. As for Delaware, they played Towson on Thursday. The Hens ended up losing in a blowout. UNC Wilmington Seahawks 

UNC Wilmington posted a pretty solid 15-5 run across their first 20 games of the year. The Seahawks kept it up with a 5-2 record over the next seven, beating Stony Brook, Monmouth, NC A&T, William & Mary and Northeastern along the way. 

In the Drexel game on Thursday, the Seahawks came back from a 27-22 halftime deficit to force overtime. After two extra periods UNC Wilmington emerged with a 72-71 win. Tan White doubled up on 26 points and 12 rebounds in the victory. 

Delaware Fightin’ Blue Hens

Over on the Delaware side, they had an up-and-down 11-9 stretch in their first 20 outings. The Hens stumbled to a 2-5 stretch in their next seven however, with losses to Drexel, Hampton, Monmouth, Charleston and Drexel again in that time. 

Matched up against Towson on Thursday, Delaware was down 42-33 by halftime. The Hens didn’t get any closer than that in the second on a 53-39 run and lost 95-72. Both Christian Ray and Cavan Reilly scored a team-high 15 points apiece. 

ANDREW’S FREE PICK 

I’ll probably lean toward UNC Wilmington in this one, but I’m not going near it. The Seahawks looked sketchy at times during the Drexel game on Thursday, but to their credit the team powered out a close road win and they’ve now won six of their last seven. As for Delaware, they’re on a rough 1-4 stretch right now, but the good news is that they’ve got a combined 143 points in the last two outings. I like the Hens to put up a decent fight at home but I don’t think they’ll cover/win in the end.
