The North Dakota Fighting Hawks lost their 3rd straight game and dropped to 4-11 on the season after being defeated by the Omaha Mavericks, 98-82, this past Thursday. North Dakota had no answers on the defensive end for Omaha and could not fight back after the Mavericks took a 60-40 lead with 18:41 left in regulation. North Dakota shot 44.1% from the field & 30.4% from beyond the arc while allowing Omaha to shoot 55.1% from the field & 47.6% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Fighting Hawks was Matt Norman who had 20 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, & 1 steal.

Defensively, North Dakota is allowing their opponents to average 78.1 ppg on 49.0% shooting from the field. The Fighting Hawks have a rebound margin of -0.3 and a turnover margin of -1.3.

The Denver Pioneers dropped to 5-11 on the season after being defeated by the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles, 83-66, on December 30th. Denver fought back from a 43-27 deficit to tie the game at 56-all midway through the 2nd half, however, the Pioneers defense struggled down the stretch and could not fight back after the Golden Eagles took a76-64 lead with 3:00 minutes left in regulation. Denver shot 39.1% from the field & 30.4% from beyond the arc while allowing Oral Roberts to shoot 49.2% from the field & 44.4% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Pioneers was Tevin Smith who had 17 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 blocks, & 4 steals.

North Dakota has struggled on both ends of the court this season as the Fighting Hawks come into this game ranked 317th in FG%, 330th in scoring defense, & 345th in defensive FG%. Denver has also had issues on both ends of the court this season as the Pioneers come into this game ranked 279th in scoring offense, 253rd in scoring defense, & 256th in defensive FG%.

North Dakota is coming off an embarrassing 16-point loss against an Omaha team and is just not a good team. Denver is not a great team by their own right, however, this is a team that should be able to put up plenty of offense on their home court against North Dakota and as the Fighting Hawks are 0-7 on the road this season, I’m taking Denver to cover here. Good Luck!
