DePaul vs Coppin State College Basketball Picks, Odds, Predictions 11/10/2021

The Coppin State Eagles and the DePaul Blue Demons meet in college basketball action from the Wintrust Center on Wednesday night.

The Coppin State Eagles will be looking to shake off a 103-45 dismantling at the hands of Loyola-Chicago in their last game. Jesse Zarzuela led the Eagles with 8 pointson 2 of 12 shooting while Nathaniel Stokes had a team-high 6 rebounds and Nendah Tarke has 7 points with a team-high 3 steals. The Eagles shot just 22.4% from the floor and 8% from three in the losing effort.

The DePaul Blue Demons will try to bounce back from a 5-14 mark in 2020-21, including a piddly 2-13 mark in Big East conference play to finish in dead last. The Blue Demons did upset Providence in the Big East tournament before losing to UConn in the quarterfinals. The Blue Demons are almost starting over after losing 6 big names from last year’s team, including Romeo Weems, Charlie Moore, Ray Salnave and Pauly Paulicap. The Blue Demons do bring back Javon Freeman-Liberty (14.4 PPG, 5.3 RPG, 2.6 APG) while luring in Javan Johnson (9.7 PPG, 4.3 RPG) from Iowa State and Brandon Johnson (8.9 PPG, 6.3 RPG) from Minnesota via the transfer portal. Expectations are likely to be low for DePaul this season, but hopes will be to avoid a last place finish for the first time since 2016.

Coppin State did have a game to shake off the rust, but they were also demolished in that game to put it nicely. DePaul always seems to flame out later on in the season, but early on before they get into Big East play is where we usually see DePaul put their best foot forward, so I’ll lay it and play it with the Blue Demons in this one.
