DePaul vs Marquette Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 1/28/23

The Marquette Golden Eagles and the DePaul Blue Demons meet Saturday in college basketball action from Wintrust Arena. Marquette is 16-5 overall this year. The Eagles beat Seton Hall in their last game. As for DePaul, they’re 9-12 following a loss to Georgetown on Tuesday. Marquette Golden Eagles 

Marquette went a solid 12-4 over their first 16 games, losing to only Purdue, Mississippi State, Wisconsin and Providence. The Eagles are 4-1 since then with wins over Georgetown, UConn, Providence and Seton Hall. 

Matched up against Seton Hall last Saturday, the Eagles took a 37-29 edge into the break. Marquette kept the pressure up with a 37-24 second half in a 74-53 win. Kameron Jones was the high man on 22 points and three boards. 

DePaul Blue Demons 

Over on the DePaul side, they beat Loyola MD, Western IL, Minnesota, Samford, Loyola IL, UTEP and Georgetown in their first 16 games. The Demons are 2-3 in their last five with losses to Seton Hall, Providence and Georgetown. 

In the Georgetown game on Tuesday, the Demons were ahead 37-36 going into the second half. DePaul took a 45-39 deficit from there and lost it 81-76. Umoja Gibson was the team’s high scorer on 24 points and four assists. 

ANDREW’S FREE PICK 

I’ll probably stay with Marquette in this one. The Eagles are 7-1 in their last eight games, with a four-point loss to Xavier being the only blemish. Marquette has also had their offense working well; they’ve hit 68 or more points in 16 straight games. As for DePaul, they’ve ben all over the place lately and probably should have beaten a struggling Georgetown team in their last outing. I like DePaul to hang around until the second half, with Marquette eventually pulling out the cover.
