The St. John’s Red Storm will travel to Wintrust Arena to take on the DePaul Blue Demons this Sunday night in College Basketball action.

The St. John’s Red Storm had their 2-game winning streak snapped and dropped to 15-12 on the season after being defeated by the Creighton Bluejays, 81-78, this past Wednesday. St. John’s led by a 46-39 margin at halftime, however, the Red Storm struggled defensively in the 2nd half and could not fight back after the Bluejays took a 79-76 lead with :48 seconds left in regulation. St. John’s shot 41.2% from the field & 36.8% from beyond the arc while allowing Creighton to shoot 51.6% from the field & 29.2% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Red Storm was Posh Alexander who had 13 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, & 2 steals.

On the season, St. John’s is averaging 79.2 ppg on 45.1% shooting from the field. The Red Storm are averaging 7.4 three-pointers per game on 34.0% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, St. John’s has been led by Julian Champagnie (18.7 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 2.1 apg, 1.9 spg, 1.2 bpg), Posh Alexander (14.5 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 5.3 apg, 2.5 spg), Montez Mathis (8.8 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 2.0 apg, 1.2 spg), & Dylan Addae -Wusu (8.7 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 4.3 apg, 1.5 spg).

Defensively, St. John’s is allowing their opponents to average 73.5 ppg on 42.2% shooting from the field. The Red Storm have a rebound margin of -0.7 and a turnover margin of 4.1.

The DePaul Blue Demons snapped their 4-game losing streak and improved to 13-14 on the season after being defeated by the Georgetown Hoyas, 68-65, this past Thursday. DePaul allowed Georgetown to fight back from a 62-55 deficit to take a 64-63 lead, however, the Blue Demons were strong down the stretch and was able to take the lead for good on a Javon Freeman-Liberty layup with 1:01 left in regulation. DePaul shot 45.1% from the field & 25.0% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Blue Demons was Javon Freeman-Liberty who had 25 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, & 2 steals.

On the season, DePaul is averaging 71.9 ppg on 42.7% shooting from the field. The Blue Demons are averaging 6.6 three-pointers per game on 31.6% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, DePaul has been led by Javon Freeman-Liberty (20.8 ppg, 7.4 rpg, 3.1 apg, 1.6 spg), David Jones (14.2 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 2.3 apg, 1.6 spg, 1.0 bpg), Brandon Johnson (10.3 ppg, 7.2 rpg), & Jalen Terry (8.5 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 3.1 apg).

Defensively, DePaul is allowing their opponents to average 70.3 ppg on 41.9% shooting from the field. The Blue Demons have a rebound margin of 2.7 and a turnover margin of -0.2.

The Red Storm are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road games vs. a team with a winning home record & 5-0 ATS in their last 5 road games. The Blue Demons are 6-1-1 ATS in their last 8 games following a straight up win & 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games overall.

DePaul is 9-7 at home, however, this is a team that is just 3-9 in their last 12 games and have struggled on both ends of the court as the Blue Demons rank just 257th in FG%, 280th in 3P-FG%, & 215th in scoring defense. St. John’s has been great ATS on the road as of late and as I think the Red Storm offense, which ranks 23rd in scoring offense will have plenty of success on the offensive end, I think the play here is to take St. John’s to cover this small road spread. Good Luck!
