Detroit vs Northern Kentucky Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 2/23/23

The Northern Kentucky Norse and the Detroit Mercy Titans meet Thursday in college basketball action from Calihan Hall. Northern Kentucky is 17-12 so far this season. The Norse lost to Cleveland State on Sunday in their last outing. As for Detroit, they’re 13-16 on the year after a Sunday win over IUPUI. Northern Kentucky Norse 

Northern Kentucky managed a 14-8 run over their first 22 games of the year. The Norse have stumbled on a 3-4 run since then, taking losses to Milwaukee, Youngstown State, Wright State and Cleveland State alongside wins over Robert Morris, IUPUI and Fort Wayne. 

In the Cleveland State matchup on Sunday, the Norse went into the second half with a 34-32 lead. Northern Kentucky was outscored 32-29 from there however and lost 64-63. Marques Warrick led the team on 26 points and three rebounds. 

Detroit Mercy Titans 

Over on the Detroit side, they stood at a rough 8-14 record after 22 games this season. The Titans have since gotten better on a 5-2 stretch, though. The wins in that time have come versus Cleveland State, Fort Wayne, Green Bay, Oakland and IUPUI. 

Back on Sunday versus IUPUI, the Titans came out of the break with a 33-33 tie. Detroit hit a 48-35 run in the second half in an 81-68 victory. Antoine Davis was the top team scorer with 31 points and five assists in the win.

I’m going to stick with Detroit in this one. The Titans have won three games in a row and five of their last six, so they’re playing pretty well right now after the rough start. Northern Kentucky has been a little more sketchy lately; the Norse have scored 65 points or fewer in five of their last six. The last time these teams met up on January 8, Northern Kentucky powered out an overtime victory 78-76 at BB&T Arena. I like Detroit to take control in this rematch and keep their run going with a cover.
